In a remarkable tale of determination and community support, a government school in Maharashtra’s Beed district is showcasing the power of motivation in education. The Zilla Parishad Kendriya Prathmik Shala in Pargaon Jogeshwari village has transformed into a hub of modern learning, featuring smart classes, robotics training, an astronomy club, and even a technology lab where students create gadgets like car sensors and rain detectors.
A Teacher’s Vision
Somnath Walke, a dedicated teacher at the school since 2014, initiated a movement that rallied villagers to contribute towards enhancing education. Recognizing the need for better facilities closer to home, he persuaded parents to support their local school, which led to impressive results.
Tech-Powered Learning
The school’s infrastructure overhaul has resulted in a technology lab where students have crafted practical innovations. They’ve successfully developed car sensors for tight parking spots and rain sensors that sound an alarm upon detecting raindrops. Furthermore, a 3D printing machine enables students to create intricate objects like toys, paperweights, and decorative items.
A Journey of Progress
Walke’s journey was not without challenges. Starting with just one teacher and 54 students, the school underwent a tremendous transformation. Today, it boasts eight teachers and an enrollment of 186 students, becoming a focal point in the village. The academic improvement and newfound enthusiasm for learning among students greatly motivated parents to contribute.
Parental Testimony
The impact of the school’s transformation is evident in parents’ decisions. One guardian shifted his daughter from an English-medium private school to the government school due to the quality of education. He noted his son’s remarkable progress in fluent English, computer skills, and musical abilities—all credited to the school’s innovative approach.
