Empowering laborers: government initiatives unveiled
The government of India has unveiled an array of schemes tailored to uplift farmers and laborers. Notable among these are PMJJBY, PMSBY, ABPMJAY, and many more. The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY) takes center stage as a comprehensive health coverage program rolled out by the Indian government. Ensuring financial security during old age, the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) Pension Scheme was introduced in 2019 for workers in the unorganized sector.
Comprehensive spectrum of schemes
The government extends its support through a spectrum of initiatives for unorganized workers. Among these, the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme, National Food Security Act, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Gareeb Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan, and more are prominent. Eligibility-driven schemes like Mahatma Gandhi Bunkar Bima Yojana, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, PMSVANidhi, and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana contribute to the comprehensive support structure.
Expanding horizon of schemes
Diversifying the support framework, other schemes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY), Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY) for unemployment benefits, and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan (PMGKRA) make a remarkable impact. Realizing the vision: Data insights
Recent data matching efforts have illuminated the impact of these schemes. Out of over 28.97 crore eShram entries, a substantial 20.63 crores benefit from the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme, 11.26 crore are enrolled in Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), and 3.82 crores find support in PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme (PM-KISAN). Further, the PM-Ujjwala Yojana registers 4.63 crore beneficiaries.
A growing momentum: laborer inclusion
The eShram portal witnessed a significant surge, registering more than 1.77 crore unorganized workers in the previous financial year. Representing a diverse range of 31 occupations, this growing momentum signifies a promising step toward ensuring the welfare and upliftment of laborers across the nation.
