Accompanied by dedicated volunteers and teachers, these children engage in a unique learning experience between 10 AM and 12 PM. Discover the remarkable ‘Education Rickshaw Campaign,’ a brainchild of Rahul Pandey and Vikas Jha, which aims to bring education and joy to the lives of underprivileged waste-picker children.
A noble mission that transforms lives
The inception of the ‘Education Rickshaw Campaign’ can be traced back to 2013 when Rahul Pandey and Vikas Jha, engineering graduates and close friends, encountered several children picking waste near the Sai Mandir in Noida, devoid of any formal education. Fueled by compassion and determination, they established the non-profit organization ‘Bhavishya’ with a mission to educate and uplift the lives of these children. Today, Bhavishya operates more than five education centers across Noida, West Bengal, and Bihar, touching the lives of over two thousand children.
The journey of education on a rickshaw
The campaign’s innovative approach involves a specially designed rickshaw, transformed into a temporary classroom. Each day, enthusiastic volunteers travel up to 2 kilometers to reach the children, motivating them to embrace education. The campaign has even facilitated the enrollment of some children into nearby government schools, extending its impact beyond the rickshaw’s reach.
Har Basti Mein Kitab’: The power of sponsor a kid
Complementing the rickshaw initiative is the ‘Sponsor A Kid’ program, which seeks to provide educational assistance to deserving children. Through this initiative, Bhavishya sponsors the education of selected children, ensuring they receive the necessary training and support to thrive academically.
Spreading the light of knowledge
‘Bhavishya’ not only imparts knowledge but also advocates for the provision of school bags and stationery to underprivileged children. With a vision to establish learning centers in every district of India, Vikas Jha and Rahul Pandey dream of empowering countless lives, helping them overcome adversity and achieve a brighter future.
In conclusion, the ‘Education Rickshaw Campaign’ stands as a beacon of hope, illuminating the lives of waste-picker children with the light of education. As this noble initiative expands its footprint, it continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of these young learners, guiding them toward a promising tomorrow.
