From the 17th to the 25th of May, India will be the official country of honour at the Cannes Film Market. This is the first time the market has designated a country as an official honoree. In future editions, the new tradition will be carried on with different nationalities.Pratidwandi, a fresh restoration of Satyajit Ray’s film, will also be screened in an exclusive screening.

Cannes International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, that showcases new films from around the world in a variety of genres, including documentaries. It is the most renowned and well-known film festival in the world. It takes place at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès once a year (typically in May).
The Circus Tent (Thamp), directed by Aravindan Govindan, will also be presented as part of the Cannes Classics programme.
Singin’ In The Rain, a Hollywood classic, will also be shown in the section, with a brand new 4K restoration.

Deepika Padukone, a Bollywood actress, will also serve on the jury for the main feature film competition. In addition, the Sundance grand jury prize-winning documentary All That Breathes by Indian filmmaker Shaunak Sen will be presented.
On the 18th of May, market executive directors Jérôme Paillard and Guillaume Esmiol will provide an introduction, followed by a welcoming address from India’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur.
