Haryana Roadways to offer Free Bus Rides to Women on Raksha Bandhan

Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma announced on July 29 that state buses will provide free rides to women on Raksha Bandhan next month. Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is a festival that celebrates the brother-sister bond and will be observed on August 11.

According to the minister, women and children under the age of 15 can travel for free on all “ordinary” buses operated by Haryana Roadways from 12 noon on August 10 to August 11. Sharma stated that the free bus rides on Raksha Bandhan had been offered for several years but had to be discontinued due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a significant improvement in the Covid situation, it has been decided to resume this facility, he said.
