Empowering farmers: Ballia hosts farmer’s school to enhance food production techniques


In a significant initiative, the Agriculture Department of Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district is all set to organize a two-day Gram Panchayat-level conference and Farmer’s School. The main aim of this event is to raise awareness among farmers, providing them with crucial insights into modern agricultural techniques. The Deputy Director of Agriculture, Pawan Kumar Prajapati, will be part of this event, where farmers will not only learn about sustainable farming practices but also gain valuable knowledge about cutting-edge agricultural methods.

Event Overview

Under the program, the Agriculture Department will hold a two-day conference in all 343 Gram Panchayats across different sectors of Ballia district. This event aims to not only educate farmers but also share vital information about innovative agricultural techniques that can contribute to improved yield.

Session 1: Learning the Basics:
During the first session, farmers will be introduced to organic farming methods and enlightened about the Agriculture Department’s various schemes. This two-day program will focus on the significance of nutrient-rich crops, categorization of crops, and advancements in production techniques.

Session 2: Enhancing Agricultural Expertise:
The second session will delve into the intricacies of natural farming components, principles of organic cultivation, direct seeding of paddy, crop rotation, and vegetable cultivation. Additionally, attendees will receive detailed information about key Agriculture Department initiatives, and regional sectors such as horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, sugarcane, and market committees.

Timings and Participation

The Farmer’s School will be conducted in three cycles: August 7-8, August 10-11, and August 16-17, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The sessions will feature agricultural department personnel who will not only elaborate on sector-specific initiatives but also impart essential technical knowledge.

Innovative Approaches

Farmers will also learn about crafting organic pesticides from readily available resources like neem, karanj, and datura leaves, as well as cow dung and cow urine. Furthermore, the program will educate farmers about procuring crop insurance and offer in-depth insights into the process.
