PM Modi tries to do some historic work every year on the occasion of his birthday. This year in 2023, on this occasion PM Modi inaugurated India’s first ‘International Convention and Expo Centre’ (IICC) called ‘Yashobhoomi’ in Dwarka, Delhi. It is the world’s largest convention centre.
Development cost
Developed at an estimated cost of approximately 5,400 crore rupees, ‘Yashobhumi’ will host world-class meetings, conferences, and exhibitions. It is spanning around 73,000 square meters and housing 15 convention rooms.
Seating capacity
With a capacity to seat 6,000 guests, the convention center features a main auditorium, a grand ballroom, and 13 conference rooms capable of accommodating 11,000 delegates spread across eight levels.
It boasts India’s largest LED media screen in the main auditorium, and its main hall can accommodate approximately 6,000 attendees.
One of the unique features is the Grand Ballroom with a feathered roof, that filters light through different skylights. It can host approximately 2,500 guests and includes an expansive open area for 500 people.
World class experience to visitors
The auditorium features cutting-edge seating arrangements, including a retractable floor system that enables various seating configurations in auditorium style. Wooden flooring and acoustic wall panels in the main auditorium ensure a world-class experience for attendees.
Other facilities
Over 100,000 square meters of space, specially designed with copper-clad roofing inspired by Indian culture, will be used for exhibitions, trade fairs, and business events.
In addition to the exhibition halls, ‘Yashobhumi’ provides facilities like a media room, VVIP lounge, cloakrooms, guest information centers, and ticketing services.
The center reflects a strong commitment to sustainability, as it is equipped with a modern waste-water treatment system, rainwater harvesting provisions, and advanced waste management practices. The premises have received Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
‘Yashobhumi’ is also well-equipped with high-tech security provisions to ensure the safety of attendees.
It features underground parking for more than 3,000 cars and over 100 electric vehicle charging points.
Before inaugurating ‘Yashobhumi,’ Prime Minister Modi took a ride on the Delhi Metro and inaugurated the expansion of the Delhi Airport Metro Express Line from Dwarka Sector-21 to Sector-25.
During his journey, the Prime Minister interacted with fellow passengers and even posed for selfies with some of them.
After the inauguration of the airport metro expansion, he also engaged in a conversation with metro staff.
This world-class convention and exhibition center, ‘Yashobhumi,’ signifies India’s commitment to hosting large-scale international events and fostering innovation and development.
