Kiran George clinches Indonesia Masters Super 100 title, Proud moment for India!

Rising Indian Shuttler Kiran George emerged victorious in the Men’s Singles final on September 10th at the Indonesia Masters, defeating Japan’s Koo Takahashi. This marked his second triumph at the World Tour Super 100 level.

Spectacular 56-Minute Game

Coached by Kiran George from Kochi, the 23-year-old Kiran George displayed outstanding gameplay in a thrilling match that lasted for 56 minutes. He managed to outplay the world’s 82nd-ranked player, Takahashi, with a score of 21-19, 22-20.

Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy’s (PPBA) Director and former national coach, Vimal Kumar, praised Kiran’s victory, highlighting the significance of his consistent performance. Kumar emphasized the importance of Kiran maintaining his preparation, especially as he is headed to Hong Kong soon.


Training at the PPBA in Bengaluru, Kiran initially fell behind in the match with a score of 1-4. However, he leveled the game at 8-8 against Takahashi and then focused on building a lead. Despite the opponent narrowing the gap to 19-20, Kiran secured the game.

Kiran George is the son of former national champion George Thomas. He previously claimed titles at the Odisha Open and the Polish Open. Last year, he emerged as the runner-up at the Denmark Masters.

In January of this year, Kiran reached his career-best ranking of 43. He demonstrated his skills by defeating top Chinese players Shi Yuqi and Wang Hongyang at the Thailand Open in May-June. His achievements have brought joy to badminton enthusiasts in India.
